To
ensure a safe and respectful environment on the school bus, all students must
adhere to the following expectations and behaviours, which are in line with the College's SOLE expectations. By signing this agreement, you
acknowledge your understanding and commitment to these expectations.
General
Conduct
Show Pride in the School: Represent the school with pride and uphold its
values at all times.
Respect Differences: Treat
everyone with respect and acknowledge and accept the diversity among your peers.
Be Grateful, Show Empathy and Kindness: Be
considerate and supportive towards others and show gratitude to others when
they support you.
Safety
and Behaviour
1.
Seat Belts: Seat
belts must be worn at all times while the bus is in motion.
2.
Stay Seated: Remain
in your seat until the bus comes to a complete stop.
3.
Hands and
Feet to Self: Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all
times to avoid causing harm or discomfort to others.
4.
Behaviour at
the Bus Stop & on the Bus: Do not play on the road or try to get on the bus
before it has stopped. Behaving inappropriately on a school bus places the
safety and wellbeing of all on board at risk.
5.
Road
Crossing: When you get off the bus only cross the road
when the bus has left, and it is safe to do so.
6.
Bus Driver
and Bus Captains: Listen to the directions of the bus driver and bus captains.
They are responsible for maintaining school bus safety and also have the
authority to report any vandalism or misbehaviour including but not limited to
bullying, teasing, or aggression.
Bus
Environment
1.
Bags Stored
Underneath: Store all bags and belongings underneath the bus
in the designated storage area.
2.
Keep It
Clean: Maintain cleanliness on the bus.
3.
Food
Free: The bus is food free to ensure cleanliness and reduce risks associated
with allergies.
4.
Low Noise: Keep
noise levels low to avoid distracting the driver and disturbing other students.
5.
Smoke/Vaping
Prohibited: No smoking or vaping is allowed on the bus.
6.
Windows: Do
not throw anything from a bus window or have anything hanging out a window.
Technology
Use
1.
Be
Respectful Online: Use the internet responsibly and respectfully
while on the bus.
2.
Photo/Video
Footage: Do not take photos or videos on the bus to
respect the privacy of others.
3.
Stay Safe on
Social Media: Use social media responsibly and be mindful
of the content you share.
4.
Use
Earbuds/Headphones for Technology: Use earbuds or headphones when listening to
music or watching videos to avoid disturbing others.
Non-compliance with any of the above conditions
may result in the following:
1.
The driver will
stop the bus.
2.
The student’s
name and full details of the breach will be recorded.
3.
The student will
be transported to school or to their normal drop off.
4.
The breach will
be reported to a member of the executive team (Principal, Deputy Principal or
Business Manager).
5.
The Executive
team will take disciplinary measures in accordance with the guidelines below.
6.
In rare and
exceptional circumstances, and only as a last resort, drivers are authorised to
eject passengers from a bus. Parents/guardians will be notified to pick the passenger up.
Following
the report of a relevant incident, the principal may take the disciplinary
action below:
1.
First
Offence: verbal warning to student.
2.
Second
Offence: written warning to parent/guardian.
3.
Third
Offence: one week suspension of student from school bus
travel.
4.
Fourth
Offence: the student will not be allowed to travel on
the school bus for the remainder of the year. Any bus fees paid in advance are
not refundable because of disciplinary action.
A
serious offence that endangers other students, bus staff or property will
result in immediate suspension.
Responsibilities
of parents/guardians
1.
Parents/guardians
are responsible for transporting their children to and from authorised bus
stops and their safety at the bus stop while waiting for the bus.
2.
Supervision
is not provided at roadside stops. Parents/guardians are responsible for their
children upon disembarking the afternoon service.
3.
Parents
waiting for bus passengers at a roadside bus stop should wait on the same side
of the road as the bus to prevent accidents.
4.
School bus
travel is a privilege and not a right and consequences will follow a breach of
these conditions.
5.
It is
understood that bus travel is provided and accepted on these conditions.
