Before all else, live in harmony and be of one mind and one heart on the way to God.
(St Augustine’s Rule, Ch1)
A Charism refers to the gifts and special Spirit left by the orders founder. An important aspect of the Charism of the Augustinian order is that of community. The Augustinian priests that served in our parish inspired by the work of St Augustine invoked this value with their presence and daily work. The idea of community is the faith that in working together we can bring the hearts and mind of all close to God. The essence of this value is present in our college from the way we gather regularly in prayer and celebration, the spaces we learn in and our many programs to reach out to our local and global community.
The Brigidine Sisters founded by Daniel Delany base their work on his motto Strength and Kindliness. Their patroness is St.Brigid of Kildare. By all accounts St Brigid was a woman who cared for the earth, for justice and equality, for peace and reconciliation.
It is this commitment to helping those in need that is reflected in the work of the Brigidine Sisters. Compelling us to live in a manner that is faithful to the teachings of Jesus and inspired by the values of the Brigidine Sisters. It is these words that continue to challenge and inspire us today to actively make decisions that show our deep care and connection to the environment, to each other particularly those in need. We show our love and commitment to the flourishing of each individual and the community as a whole by celebrating with joy and gratitude the successes of our community.
